COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM

Free Monthly Boxes of Food for Seniors

We provide monthly food boxes for seniors with groceries full of key nutrients, such as Vitamins A and C, calcium and iron through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

Older adults aged 60 or older must meet income guidelines and apply to receive monthly food boxes from sites participating in the commodity boxes program.

SENIOR FARMERS’ MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM

Get Seasonal Coupons for Fresh Produce from Farmer’s Markets

We distribute coupons seasonally that can be used to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, honey and herbs at farmer’s markets from July to October through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

To receive a coupon book, you must reside in Chicago, be 60 years of age or older and have a household income less than 185% of the federal poverty income guidelines.

A Special SNAP/Link Program that Provides Help for Seniors

The new Elderly, Disabled Simplified Redetermination Project (EDSRP) makes the SNAP/Link food benefits process easier for older adults and people with disabilities.

FOOD & MEDICAL BENEFITS

Internet for Seniors and Other Benefits of Having SNAP/Link and Medicaid

In addition to providing help for seniors and access to nutrition and healthcare, receiving SNAP/Link and Medicaid may also qualify you for other services.

APPLY FOR SNAP or medicaid

SNAP and other benefit program recipients have access to low-cost internet service for $9.95 a month, including in-home and out-of-home Wi-Fi, discounted computers, digital literacy training and more.

SNAP cardholders have access to all Prime benefits, discounted to just $6.99 per month.

Through the new SNAP Restaurant Meals Program in Illinois, eligible individuals may use their SNAP benefits to purchase hot meals from participating restaurants.

SNAP participants can purchase groceries online for delivery or pick-up at participating grocers in Illinois.

With your SNAP benefits, anyone who receives SNAP/Link can quality for low-cost internet services from $5-10 per month.

People receiving SNAP benefits can gain free or reduced-price admission to hundreds of museums across the country, including popular Chicago museums.
