Winners of the 37th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner announced
Nearly 1,600 of Chicago’s top commercial real estate professionals gathered at the Salt Shed on Wednesday, April 23, to celebrate the 37th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards and support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The evening raised $1.1 million to help provide food for neighbors across Chicago and Cook County at a time when food insecurity remains alarmingly high.
The annual awards dinner is considered the premier event for commercial real estate professionals in Chicago—and it’s also the Food Depository’s largest fundraiser of the year. Since the partnership began in 1989, the real estate industry has helped raise millions of dollars to support the fight against hunger.
“The faithful support of Chicago’s commercial real estate community has helped ensure that our neighbors across Chicago and Cook County continue to have access to healthy, nutritious food in these times of unprecedented need,” said Kate Maehr, Food Depository Executive Director and CEO. “This generosity is critical and, in the face of ongoing challenges, helps our neighbors thrive.”
The Food Depository continues to respond to an increased need for food as many families turn to food pantries for the first time. Our pantry network served a record 2.4 million household visits from neighbors in 2024, which is 13 percent more household visits compared to 2023, and 64 percent more household visits than in 2021, surpassing demand at the height of the pandemic. Thankfully, we are able to keep up with the demand for food thanks to valued partners like the commercial real estate industry.
The evening’s awards recognized excellence in development, design, brokerage, construction and innovation. This year’s top honors included Development of the Year for the transformative 360 N Green, and Community Impact Project of the Year for the Roseland Medical Center Acquisition, which demonstrated the industry’s commitment to uplifting historically underserved neighborhoods. The Nourish Project received the Special Achievement of the Year award for its innovative approach to community-centered development and nutrition equity.
Lori Healey was honored with the Game Changer Award, recognizing her decades of impact in shaping Chicago’s built environment and civic institutions—from leading roles at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority to her current work overseeing the Obama Presidential Center.
The event was chaired by Josie Peacock of Birge & Held. Associated Bank returned as presenting sponsor, with Crain’s Chicago Business as media sponsor. The VIP reception was sponsored by Ventas; the cocktail reception by Clayco, LJC, and CRG; and the Lunchbox Challenge was sponsored by Pepper Construction. The ceremony was hosted by Ana Belaval, host of WGN Morning News’ “Around Town” segment.
It has come to our attention that there was an unfortunate error during the April 23 awards which incorrectly identified the architect of the RIU Hotel Chicago. Lucien Lagrange is the architect of the RIU Hotel Chicago. We respectfully offer an apology to Lucien Lagrange and request all marketing pertaining to this be corrected for the future.
