Food for Thought: Summer 2023

In the latest edition of Food for Thought, we share why summer meal programs are so important for children, especially those who rely on their schools for regular nutritious meals throughout the school year. We visit an after-school program in Cicero where fresh fruit is one of the main draws, stop by a pantry in West Englewood that started with a free hot breakfast for local children, and talk with Monique Batteast, the Food Depository's senior manager of children's nutrition advocacy and outreach, to get updated on anti-hunger policies impacting our youngest neighbors.
