How Seniors Can Get Seasonal Produce Coupons to Use at Farmers Markets

We distribute produce coupons seasonally that can be used to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, honey and herbs at farmers markets from July to October through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

To receive a produce coupon book, you must be a Chicago resident who is 60 years of age or older and have a household income less than 185% of the federal poverty income guidelines.

NEW THIS YEAR: The benefit per person is $40 per booklet for the 2026 season.

Anyone who lives in Chicago, is 60 years of age or older and meets the income requirements (household income less than 185% of the federal poverty level) qualifies for a coupon booklet. You need to apply for a booklet every year.

The program does not officially start until July 10th, and many of the distributions do not start until after that date. Please check start dates!

Yes! If you do not spend all of your coupons at one market, you can use them at another. The most important thing is that vendors are not able to give you change, so get as close to the nearest $10 as possible.

Yes. The coupons expire October 31st. 

No, you can only receive one coupon booklet per summer. Each summer you must reapply for a new booklet.

Yes, you may apply for a Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program booklet on the behalf of ONE additional person with their ID.
