We all know that hunger and food insecurity don’t take time off just because it’s the weekend. In fact, sometimes weekends are the only time some folks have available to visit a food pantry. Whether you’re in need of food assistance, interested in volunteering at a food bank, or wish to donate to a food pantry, you can find food pantries open on Sundays near you.

Do I Qualify to Receive Food Assistance?
Residents of Chicago and Cook County automatically qualify for food assistance at food pantries in the area. We are proud to serve anyone and everyone in need regardless of race, religion, immigration status or other factors.
When you have located a food pantry in your area, you can visit during operating hours and receive food assistance immediately. While you are not required to show an ID to receive assistance, you may be asked to provide one to ensure you reside within the pantry’s service area or to ensure you have not exceeded the permitted number of visits per month. When you visit, be sure to bring a cart or bags with you to transport your groceries home.
Many of our food pantry partners offer additional services including assistance with SNAP applications, job training, free diapers and more. Ask food pantry staff what services are available and provided to you free of charge.
Can I Volunteer at Food Pantries Open on Sundays?
