Sol Flores

Sol Flores leads the Knight Family Foundation, a private foundation that funds and supports organizations that help women in the Chicago area, that provide educational services and resettlement programs for refugees, and that support COVID relief efforts. Prior to joining the Knight Family Foundation, Sol was the Deputy Governor of Illinois for the Health and Human Services agencies including: the Illinois Departments of Human Services, Healthcare and Family Services, Public Health, Veterans Affairs, Children and Family Services, Illinois Housing Development Authority, and Human Rights and Aging.

In 2002, Flores became the founding Executive Director of La Casa Norte (LCN), a community-based organization whose mission is to serve youth and families confronting homelessness. Sol’s passion and determination to help those in need has built LCN from 2 employees into a 40-employee, multi-million-dollar organization that delivers inspiration and hope to the lives of families experiencing homelessness, single parents, survivors of domestic violence and youth who have been abandoned.
