As Founder and CEO of Farmer’s Fridge, Luke guides the company’s vision and strategic direction. An entrepreneur at heart, Luke started the company while working as a traveling salesman after struggling to find fresh, healthy and accessible food options on the road. Since 2013, the rapidly expanding business has grown to 2,000+ Fridge locations nationwide and has established a strong retail presence with partners including Target, Walmart, Albertsons, Hudson News, HMSHost and more. Luke has been honored as a Forbes “30 under 30,” a Crain’s Chicago Business “40 under 40,” and one of Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People in Business.”
Why Luke serves on the Board
I started Farmer’s Fridge to make healthy food as accessible as a candy bar because I believe everyone should be able to eat well. Joining the Greater Chicago Food Depository Board provides an opportunity to apply my passion to end hunger and support increasing access to high-quality meals in ways that a market-based solution like Farmer’s Fridge cannot address.
What does this work, and mission mean to you?
I believe that everyone should have consistent access to enough high quality, nutritiously dense food to thrive, and I see no reason why that is not possible. The Greater Chicago Food Depository is at the forefront of addressing this issue for Chicago, and I want to do my part to make it a model for solving this problem more broadly.
