Board Member
James Kirk is the President and Group Publisher for Crain Communications City Brands group. As a veteran in the daily newspaper business, Jim served as Editor-in-Chief and Interim Executive Editor for the LA Times, SVP/Strategic Initiatives for Tribune Publishing Company, and SVP Publisher and Editor-in-chief for the Sun-Times News Group. Kirk is a transformational leader with a deep expertise in editorial operations and content generation. He earned a BA from Illinois State University and lives in the Chicago area with his wife Michelle and has three children – Evan, Meghan and Anna.
Why Jim serves on the Board
With food insecurity in Cook County showing no sign of ebbing, it is important to me to align with such an incredible team of individuals working to end hunger in our region. It is one of the most important missions in our region and the work being done by the Greater Chicago Food Depository is not only amazing, but essential. I’m grateful to be a part of a board with a deep set of diverse ideas to help in any way possible.
