“From the very beginning, my AmeriCorps term has allowed me to dive deeply into community-oriented food security work.

Along the way, I’ve gained amazing experiences, personalized support, valuable relationships, as well as a nuanced understanding of emergency food work. I’m excited to take what I’ve learned into a career pushing for a more equitable food system for all.”

“One of my favorite parts of my service here so far has been the opportunity to travel to numerous communities around the city and around the surrounding suburbs and learn from volunteers and program coordinators about the communities that they serve.”

“I applied because I wanted to work within the non-profit sector and in a community-based organization.

In addition to formal work experience, we are given access to resources, workshops and networking opportunities to pursue our professional development and career goals. I’ve gained valuable knowledge and experience that I know will serve me well in whichever opportunity I take on next!”
