We are grateful to the members of our community who have come together for many years to address hunger with food drives. At this time, we are not facilitating small, individual food drives. Why?

We encourage you to start a virtual food drive by raising funds to help us buy food for food distribution to our neighbors facing hunger. A virtual food drive makes an immediate difference to end hunger in our community. It's also an easy and fun way to work with your friends, family or colleagues to provide food where it's needed most!

Together, We Can Procure High Quality Food At Lower Costs

We believe everyone deserves access to fresh, nourishing food. The Greater Chicago Food Depository works with a number of sources to purchase food in bulk. By purchasing food in very large quantities, we can buy food at cost or at much lower rates than the average customer.

Small food drives generate small quantities of inconsistent product, which are actually more costly for the Food Depository to process and redistribute.

Fundraisers and financial donations allow us to leverage our purchasing power to make each dollar donated go further — purchasing food in large quantities that is most needed in our communities.

Every $1 donated to the Food Depository helps provide 3 nutritious meals for our neighbors.
