Homeless shelters serve up Starbucks

Through the Starbucks FoodShare program, three homeless shelters in the Food Depository's network offer sandwiches, salads and other prepared food items from Starbucks to their guests. The Chicago Tribune spoke with staff at the shelters about the benefits of the program. "There's something respectful about giving out good, quality food," said Ed Jacob, executive director of Franciscan Outreach. This year, we expect to deliver about 693,000 pounds of food through Starbucks FoodShare.
