VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: She Knows What It’s Like
Rita, 62, born and raised on the southwest side of Chicago, knows what it’s like to need a little support. Decades earlier, she struggled to feed her two young children for about six months . . . until she became a teacher in the Chicago Public School district. She served in that role more than 24 years.
Retired now, Rita regularly volunteers at the Food Depository.
“We are the richest nation in the world, and no one should go hungry, particularly children,” Rita said. “That’s why I do it. No one should go to bed hungry.”
We agree. Along with Rita and many other outstanding volunteers, we are grateful that you make the work of the Food Depository possible.
You may also be our best recruiter. Please encourage your family and circle of friends to explore volunteer opportunities with the Greater Chicago Food Depository by visiting chicagosfoodbank.org/volunteer.
And thank you for any gift you can make today!
