Marcos’ Story: Food for His Children
Your support for the Greater Chicago Food Depository helps provide food for more than 700 community partners all over Chicago and Cook County. One of them is Joined Hands Food Pantry in Portage Park. They serve hundreds of households—including Marcos’.
The pandemic brought lots of changes to Marcos and his family. Before the pandemic, he was working full-time at a grocery store. He left that job because he has asthma and was afraid of catching the virus.
He found a new job at a warehouse, but it’s only part-time. So, his wife began working as well. But food can be expensive for the family of five, especially fruits and vegetables.
So, Marcos turned to Joined Hands for help to feed his children. “They take care of me and my kids,” he said. “I’m just so happy.”
The power of your generosity means you can continue to help Marcos and his family stay nourished—and so many more like them. That’s the power of your caring. That’s what your giving really means.
