Why We Advocate

More than 1,300 advocates from anti-hunger agencies across the country united in Washington, D.C. to tell Congress to protect the nutrition safety net. Each one has a unique story about the work they do and why they advocate to end hunger. Hear from three of our advocates in this video series.

Veronica Whitby manages the food pantry at the Kenmore Plaza Older Adult Community. The residents in this housing development encouraged her to advocate for SNAP. “The need is great in the older adult community,” she asserts.

Iris Millan manages the food pantry for students at the City Colleges of Chicago. She wants to raise awareness for the importance of hunger relief programs that serve students in her advocacy.
