Hack Hunger Steering Committee
In early 2016, several leaders from tech companies formed the Hack Hunger Steering Committee to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The goal is to bring innovative, creative, tech-based solutions to the challenges of ending hunger.
Through a variety of events, the Hack Hunger Steering Committee challenges the local tech community to make hunger history. We welcome all Chicagoland programmers, developers, designers, project managers, data analysts, strategists, and anyone interested in using technology skills and expertise to end hunger in our community.
Hack Hunger Events
- Hackathon to End Hunger: The committee’s signature all-day event challenges the tech community to develop data-driven solutions to real-world problems the Food Depository faces.
- Kicks for Community Charity Kickball Tournament: The Food Depository is the beneficiary of the world’s largest charity kickball tournament, organized by TMC. Taking place along the lakefront in beautiful Grant Park, the committee recruits teams to fundraise to compete in a full day of sun, fun and kickball .
- #ChiTechFoodDrive: Launched in 2014 and organized by the committee, the #ChiTechFoodDrive brings together Chicago’s tech community in a friendly food drive and fundraising competition each holiday season.
