Chief People Officer
Valerie Parker joined the Greater Chicago Food Depository as Chief People Officer (CPO) in August 2017. Valerie has broad and deep experience in human resources, specifically in the areas of employee engagement, change management, training and development, process improvement, talent acquisition and talent management. In her role as CPO Valerie is responsible for building organizational capabilities through human resources policies, programs and initiatives.
Prior to joining the Food Depository, Valerie served as the Regional VP of Human Resources for SouthernGlazer’s Wine and Spirits, a national sales and distribution organization. She has also worked for The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bay Valley Foods, LLC (TreeHouse Foods, Inc.) in senior leadership roles.
Valerie is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Psychology. She also has earned an M.B.A. in Human Resources and Labor Economics from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an M.Div. (Master of Divinity) degree in Liberation Theology from Chicago Theological Seminary.
