Board Member
Monica joined the Greater Chicago Food Depository Board of Directors in 2017. Monica is a community of faith leader and food justice advocate. She is a proud graduate of Spelman College and Teachers College, Columbia University. Her early career in education and administration has evolved into dedicated service to food advocacy and community resource development.
As a member of the Chicago faith community, Monica is actively engaged in service and ministry. With her husband, the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, III, she provides leadership to the Trinity United Church of Christ located in the Southside community of Washington Heights. At Trinity, Monica co-convenes an annual faith-based conference of nearly 1000 women. Monica also provides leadership for food justice initiatives including healthy food education, a farmers market and an organic garden through her community of faith. As the Wellness Coordinator for her church, Monica advocates for healthy food access for members of her congregation and the larger community.
Monica also serves on the Governing Boards of McCormick Seminary and Illinois Action for Children. She is happy to call Chicago home.

I serve because I know the comfort and benefit of having access to food – good, healthy, nutritious food that feeds the body and nurtures the soul and I have seen the power of food to both heal and transform individuals and communities. Access to wholesome food increases our health, creates healthier families and communities and allows us to thrive, not just survive.
