Vice President of Finance
Mary Pelican joined the Greater Chicago Food Depository as vice president of finance in June 2021. In her role, Mary is responsible for all strategic and tactical management of the finance function.
Prior to joining the Food Depository, Mary was senior director of foundation finance for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Mary brings over 20 years of not-for-profit finance and accounting experience, as well as a history of building and leading high-performing teams. Prior to joining Lurie Children’s, Mary worked at Arthur Andersen LLP.
Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, baking and traveling.
Memberships
Mary currently serves on the board of the Notre Dame Club of Chicago, and previously served on the board of Snow City Arts.
Education
Mary earned her B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Notre Dame. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
