Hundreds of volunteers from GE spent Friday, May 18, at the Food Depository for GE Community Day. At the end of the day, more than 98,000 pounds of nutritious food had been packed, sorted and bagged for hungry men, women and children in Cook County.

Canstruction combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people.

Nourish for Knowledge at Whistler School


Whistler School students in West Pullman receive free take-home bags of food through Nourish for Knowledge, a partnership between the Food Depository and Chicago Public Schools. Students at 23 schools receive food each week.

The 23rd Annual Hunger Walk drew thousands of donors, volunteers and supporters to Montrose Harbor in June 2008.

The 14th Annual Bag Hunger Auction took place on Oct. 24, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and raised more than $275,000 to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository's hunger-relief programs.

Sen. Durbin visits Food Depository


Sen. Dick Durbin visited the Greater Chicago Food Depository in December to celebrate the Senate's passage of a new Farm Bill, which includes additional funding for nutrition programs that help the hungry.
