Food drives are a great way for businesses, organizations and groups of all sizes to make a difference in the fight against hunger. In 2011, food drives helped the Greater Chicago Food Depository collect more than 460,000 pounds of nonperishable food for people in need. This year, our goal is to collect the equivalent of 1 million meals worth of healthy, nonperishable food.
As more than 807,000 people in Cook County don't know when or where their next meal is coming from, food drives are more important than ever. You can make a difference by organizing a food drive with your office, school, place of worship or any type of club or organization.
