The Greater Chicago Food Depository hosts special events annually to help fund our hunger-relief and training programs.
Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner
Often referred to as "the Oscars" of the Chicago commercial real estate industry, the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner draws more than 1,800 of Chicagoland's top commercial property professionals
This 25th annual awards dinner recognized 2012’s outstanding architects, designers, developers and brokers at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The event raised more than $1 million this year to support hunger-relief programs and has raised more than $13 million in the past 25 years.
For 27 years this annual event has been a grassroots benefit for the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s member agencies. The Greater Chicago Food Depository’s member soup kitchens, pantries, and shelters raise money to support their communities. The walkers, whose numbers have grown over 27 years to nearly 12,000, helped to raise more than $566,000 last year by soliciting donations on their behalf. This 3.1 mile walk took place along the lakefront this year starting at Soldier Field and concluding with live entertainment.
Approximately 95,000 cans of food from the 19 structures of the 6th annual CANstruction design/build competition went to feed the hungry in Cook County. Chicago architects, engineers and construction companies showed off their designs and engineering genius to aid in the cause to fight hunger. All cans used in the structures benefited the Greater Chicago Food Depository. CANStruction will return to the Merchandise Mart in August 2013.
