Immediate Volunteer Needs
Corn harvest, Sept. 6:
Join us at a local farm on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 8 a.m.-Noon as we hand pick fresh corn. Thanks to a generous partnership with the Growing Initiative, all of the corn goes directly to local hunger relief. As always, the corn harvest will be a fun morning to support our neighbors in need. To sign up for the corn harvest, please contact Jacob Horn at email@example.com or 773-843-6801.
Volunteer repack sessions:
For a list of all volunteer repack sessions, visit our volunteer calendar.
Drivers and Driver Helpers:
Support the distribution and pick-up of food at the Food Depository! Every weekday morning, volunteer teams drive Food Depository vehicles to deliver fresh produce to member agencies or pick up food drive donations at local organizations. We are looking for volunteer drivers and helpers to volunteer at least once per week. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (will be paired up with a helper), and be willing to undergo a background check, and drug screening to become a driver helper. If you are interested in becoming a driver helper, contact Mark Barnfield at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-843-7794.
We also have an ongoing, immediate need for a few volunteers to help load trucks on our loading dock for at least three hours every Monday through Friday. We have several shifts available to choose from. Please note that you must be at least 16 years old and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Please contact email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering on the loading dock.
Note: Anyone volunteering to complete court-ordered community service must be approved by our human resources team prior to scheduling. Please fill out an application and return it to the Volunteer Services department along with any court-issued paperwork stating the nature of the offense. This document may be mailed, faxed, returned electronically, or in person during normal business hours.
